Welcome to our new club, *
ThePhotoCritic! We will attempt to address some frequently asked questions in this journal entry. If you have a question not covered in this FAQ, please feel free to drop *
ThePhotoCritic a note.

Now... On to the questions!
What is *ThePhotoCritic?

Our mission is to enrich the photography community by promoting meaningful comments and critiques. By providing positive feedback, we are able to help fellow photographers grow and improve thier skills, as well as giving them the needed encouragement to keep creating! This club will also serve to provide a little more publicity for it's members!
Can anyone become a member?

If you own a camera, and are capable of providing meaningful comments and critique on photography, then yes, you may become a member. You don't have to be an expert to join, simply enthusiastic!
How do I become a member of *ThePhotoCritic?

Becoming a member is easy! It's a two step process.

1. Add *
ThePhotoCritic to your devWATCH.
This enables you to keep up with the latest news from the club. Be sure to watch our journal as well as our deviations.
Also, please support the club by letting others know about us, either in your journal, in your signature, or anywhere else.

2. Simply choose a deviation from our gallery. Write a critique of that deviation and send it to *
ThePhotoCritic in a note. In the subject of that note, write "Request Membership".
We will review your critique, and pass it on to the original artist for you. If we feel you provided heartfelt feedback, we will add you to our members list, and ask you for a link to one of your deviations that you would like added to our gallery. It's as simple as that!
Where can I find helpful tips on providing meaningful comments and critique?

Everyone is capable of providing positive feedback to fellow artists. Yes it takes a little more time to write such a comment, but it can really make someone's day, not to mention help them to grow! And you are in luck! You have two resources to consult for tips on critiquing!

Please make sure you read our

2. One of our fellow deviants, `
splat, has taken some of the mystery out of the art of critiquing. You can find basic hints on his personal forum:

How do I submit a photo to *ThePhotoCritic?

When we are accepting submissions to our gallery (that is, when we are not holding a photography contest) you are allowed 1 submission per week. You can submit your image by sending a note with a link to the photo you'd like to submit. Please link us to the
deviation not the full
view.
What kind of deviations are admissible to *ThePhotoCritic's gallery?

Practically any type of photography is admissible. Photographs that have undergone post-PhotoShop work are also permissible, but the focus should be on photography. Photo manipulations are acceptable, as long as the manipulation is something that
could have been done non-digitally. For example: adding boarders, hand tinting, infra-red photography, and text are all acceptable. Merging 2 or more photographs into a single photo is not an acceptable photo manipulation for this club. If a deviation is questionable in this regard, it will be left to the sole discretion of the founders to decide if it is acceptable. Images featuring adult content are not allowed, sorry.
Why can't I submit a photo featuring mature content?

The founders of *
ThePhotoCritic would like this club to have a PG-13 or lower rating. We want to be a club that anyone, including younger photographers, would feel comfortable joining. If
your gallery features photos with mature content, that is fine. You are still welcome here. But any deviation submitted by a member must be approved by the founders, and must not contain nudity or other adult content. Thank you for your cooperation!

Learn to give meaningful critiques
I already help run a photography competition at *punkush with the purpose of providing constructive feedback for people.
You might want to check out and if you deem it useful, pass along the word to your members.
Unfortunately I already have too many dA commitments right now to be an active member, but I'd be more than happy to be a supporter.
As for the affiliate thing, Im not a community leader by any stretch of the imagination but if you need me, I'm here.
Im going to wait a while to mention this place in my journal until all the current (unnecessary) controversy has died down.

I'll be doing a 'photography resources' journal soon.
I think that will be a good time to pimp you guys out.
