Sat Sep 10, 2005, 6:42 PM by `Doubtful-Della:iconDoubtful-Della:

Final Entries: We had 50 entries! Thanks to everyone that entered! If you see any mistakes, or if your submission is not listed here, please let us know so that we can fix it before the top 5 are chosen.

=Doubtful-Della, *stumbleine179, =saddogeyes, and =sigpras will be judging the 50 entries based on creativity, originality, composition, description, and overall relation to the theme. After the top 5 are chosen voting will be open to the public to chose the top 3.

After that we will include the winning photos to our gallery and will allow 2 months for people to come by and leave critiques on each photo. After December 1st =Doubtful-Della and *stumbleine179 will chosen a few of the best critiques to award subscriptions to. There are no set amounts, and no set prizes. It all depends on the amount and depth of the critiques.

For now, please take a moment to practice your critiques on the 50 entries!

"My Collarbone" by ~j-adD
..And the pessimist said: When you're leaning. When you're broken. It's already over. End of story

"el final del cuento" by *mere-ambivalence
the little niña knew, knew more clearly than the scalding visage of the sun as it shone upon her in the noon that her dearest friend in the world, her brother llamicito-- with his fir whiter than snow and softer than feathers, and the red yarn mama sewed onto his ears so he wouldn't so easily be lost in the pampa-- he was not for sale. end of story

"Lunchtime" by *CirceMoon
This small garden is great, because you can see all life stages of the butterflies, from catepillars to coccoons to mature butterflies. For this reason, there are also quite a few spiders in the area, looking to catch a poor butterfly or moth unaware and get a nice lunch out of it. Well, this is what I found with this particular shot. This golden orb spider had caught a butterfly, killed it, and was now preparing to eat it. So, for this poor butterfly, this shot quite literally represented the end of its story.

"Waving Goodbye" by ~ColdDeath
"...So for now he says goodbye to this world above the water and goes down deep to the depths of the ocean he shall follow his food to the north and return only for the warmth of the south for the young in a year so this is the end of story for the whale at this time, our path will never meet again but your journey will always continue"

"Right In Front Of You" by =did
"Sometimes what your looking for is right in front of you. You can search for what you can't see but can only find what you desire to acquire, End of Story!"

"Last Survivor" by *Goodbye-kitty975
"This is not just the end of a story, it is the end of EVERY story. That is the truth of mortality. Here we see a girl who had to face this reality all too soon, when her entire family was taken at once. She's the last survivor of a tragic twist of fate and right now it seems like the end of the world. But is this really the end of the story? Is she mourning? Or... is she making a promise? Is this the start of a whole new story? The story of a grief-stricken girl's revenge?"

"Solitude" by ~MarshmallowsYAY
"Alone in the woods there is time to think. Time to hear. Time to see. There are no distractions. Time ceases to exist. This is the end of life. This is the end of civilization. This is the end of the story."

"Trail End" by ~liewqi
"We got lost hiking through the neverending dim forest, weary and tired, we stumbled around, looking for a way out. And then we saw shafts of light peering warmly through the leaves. We followed the light, found a new trail, and it led us to an open gap in the shrubs. Was this the end of our journey, the end of the story of our lost travels?"

"Lock The Box..." by =cicychan
"When you don't want to face something that's going on... you can just leave it in the box. Once you've locked it and thrown the key away... it's the end of story. for now, at least..."

"Going Home" by ~Parcel-Sisters
"And so the fourth day has come to its long-awaited dusk, as the sun stretches our shadows from the weary soles of our feet. We care not for the victory we've just pulled ourselves through, nor the sorrowful, regreting faces we stride proudly by. Our time here has expired. We no longer offer our assistance to either teammate nor coach. It is the end of our story, unitl the next time we meet. It is the end of our burden, which will seek us once more soon enough. We're going home, together, despite our bitter tolerance for each other. We're going home, with both light and heavy hearts. We're going home. This is what we've played for."

"One Wild Night" by *scarletamoeba
"It began with a single melon-colored rose....and then a slow walk on a sultry summer night, followed by a ride to the top to gaze upon the stars. one glass then 2, and another. and then almost as the day's dawn breaks with the tipped glasses, empty bottles, and the slow teetering journey to our soft warm bed...End of Story"

"End of Story" by ~martianlightsaber
"With a click, she is captured amongst them. 'A railway museum?' we thought. Black and antique; this resting place of steam engines which have travelled their last routes, their End of Story"

"And They Lived Ever After" by =Nach0o
"She grabbed the book into which we had written our souls up to this point. She said that it all had been a lie, that she hadn't meant a word she said. She grabbed the match and struck it, waiting to see my reaction. I could do nothing but watch and cry. She lit the middle page and laid it onto the floor. I watched as everything i knew and loved went to hell, its spirit rising to the sky in the form of smoke. That was the end of our story."

"Another End" by *car3less
"Everything is made of beginnings and ends, when something is finished, something else begins...a day, a life. Sunrises and sunsets."

"Leaving" by ~Genetrix205
"Leaving for good is always a hard thing to do, but the end of one story always opens a page to another book"

"Returning Home" by ~tzaj
"This picture represents an end. An end very early, when other people are just starting their day, the trailing seagulls being a testament to the success of this day's early catch that brings this story to an end"

"Goodbye and Goodnight" by =sammi-antha
"I always feel very sad when the actor leaves and there is no more left to see"

"End of Story" by *Behindmyblueeyes
"Deep in the mountains, among many other similar monuments, lies this small cross with a marble plaque reminding every person that passes by about the implaccable force of nature..."

"End of Story" by ~DropKickLippy
" We often look back in time and remember when we asked our parents or grandparents to read us stories when we were little.
But as years passed by... we grew up, and we wanted to be able to read these stories on our own.
And that's the beginning of our story, and sadly... the end of story for Grandma."

"End of Story" by *LifeMage
".......This is our romantic getaway! Our hearts, minds and bodies, merge and for three days and three nights we are truly sharing a single journey. The mystical island of Pu Tuo Shan, the climax of this love affair and the fate we both know too well.....this is the End of our Story.
Sometimes you know the end of a story before it even begins."

"It Was Fun Being a Bug" by =C-Newlin
"It was fun being a bug!
Buzzing the odd ear,
causing children to waive thier spindly arms about.
The world was my salad bar!

But that's all done now.
Time to trade the shreiking young
for wings, and the tops of trees.
I've got new noise to make!"

"Afterfun" by ~blachu
" Two ferrets playing is almost a never ending story. Here's one of those moments after fun."

"It's Over" by *YourFathersMustache
"Its winter...the end of all things warm and cozy. Yet the sun still rises and brings hope for next summers warmth once again!"

"Home Sweet Home. II" by ~tophattedtragedy
"There is no improvement from here, where is this supposed to go? The only way to go is back in time. To the beginning, to arrive at the End of the Story."

"End of Story" by =tachsheet-Jeulian
"At the beginning of life it seems nothing can hurt us and every photo of a child is a vibrant testimony of life's freedom and happiness but close to the end of it we transform into this fragile dependant creature, anything and everything hurts us..."

"End of Story" by ~pnub-x
"chess is just like a war novel that plays out everytime you set up the board. it also depicts alice in wonderland's adventure where in the end the book reads like a chess match(to me) and in the end the final piece falls and the story ends with one being the victor and the other being lost.
a chess match is a story becasut it has twists and turns like in many novels and stories, the characters(pieces) play specific roles and progress the plot(game) to a final scene with a king and a kingdom falling(checkmate)"

"End of Story" by ~VomitDoll
"When it began. My heart jumped whenever I heard the melodic sound I call her voice. Nothing was better than seeing her smile. That sweet angel. The butterflies came. Angry and hungry. The static soon followed. Choking on every word I found that it was best to not breathe at all. You know its the end when you cry so much its like your tears are putting out a fire that used to fuel you."

"End of Story" =violent-disorder
"A lonely place where everything lost it's path and it's
pointless, ending something in a very tragic way. A love story, a friends
story.. something didn't go right and ended there in that ghostly place,
leaving nothing but fog to cover up the mistakes or the crimes."

"As Time Goes By" by ~cluelessart
"I was out shopping without thinking too much about what was going on around me. consuming. spending money. then I encountered this old bike, which didn't look like it would run even a few more meters and realized how temporary consuming goods are..."

"Sayonara, a long goodbye" by =shiroin
"'Sayonara' is a phrase in Japanese. Literal meaning is 'goodbye'.
However, people do not say 'sayonara' to one another unless they imply theywill either not meet in a long time, or likely never meet again.
Same situation applies to me, who will be out of DA for a month or two after this submission due to personal goals that I want to achieve. My story with DA may be paused, but my personal story have just begun.
So right here I say "Sayonara, minna" which means "Good bye, everyone"

"Epilogue" by =aip
"Our reliance on something to enhance or aid our senses becomes more apparent when that aid is removed. It is then when we realise how effective it may have been. This can be reflected throughout life. When we can depend so much on something to sustain life, what are we left with when its gone? The removal or destruction of such an aid, support or device consequently brings about quite a literal End to the Story."

"Stairway to Heaven" by ~sweeet-st0ck
"The last place we fall to end our story, the first place we start to begin our journey...."

"Fireworks" by ~PureNightmare
" Falling into water... the end of another story..."

"End of Our Story" by =Saskhia-Sacdetn
"You gave me this roses, Now they are dead...
You Broke your promise, The one in which we were going to be together forever...
I know it Wasn't your fault; those things happens... Now I guess you are in a better place... But i'm right here... all alone.. and my world is collapsing, because i'm nothing without you...
You have gone and in the same way has gone our Story, the one that resembled fairytales never will have a happy ending... Perhaps we will find us again, perhaps our story not have to finish, But i'm not so optimist...
This is my last letter to you my love, then i'll let you go... I love you and I always will...Our Story although beautyful... Already has finished.
Rest in peace...i'll never forget you."

"Fade" by =wrighton363
"The human body is an image that is portrayed in a myriad of ways, shapes , and forms- it's with this that someones' body can tell a story (a scar you got from falling off a bike, beautiful eyes that are inherited through genes, a transformation from the chid, young adult, and adult). In my image the head would represent the beginning of a story, in this case my friend Anna. I've captured her bottom torso in the manner of a fade that then represents her "End of Story."

"Westward" by ~artangst
"The story here, has come surely to an end, with this once proud structure lying cold and decrepit, flooded and empty. There was once hope that it's curator would return, but alas no one has come, and no one is destined to return. But still it gazes westward, stubbornly retaining the hope that maybe, just maybe, he would come back. Come back to make it whole again, so it may stand tall and proud looking over it's bay. The story ends here,
lonely and empty for now, but leaving open the possibilty of life returning once again."

"Abandon" by ~LadyCalie
"This is the end. The swing has been abandoned. The swing would be the equivalent of dead if it was living. Its purpose faded from existence long before it truely fade from my life...
This picture was taken right before my childhood house went on the market. So in esense it was the end of more than one thing. It was the end of that part of my house as well as its life."

"Dead Fish" by ~sicknick
"We all have our stories and some day they will have to end, just like any other story. Unfortunatly this poor fish's story has ended in the hands of my starving brother."

"Before Happy Endings"
"A maiden with skin as white as snow, lips as red as blood and hair like the raven's feathers stumbled one to many times to go on. She lost the way to her happy ending, overwhelmed and confused. Lost forever to her fears inside sppooky woods. The end of her story could have turned out so much better."

"The End of Cupido's Story" by *dr34msh4d0ws
"Cupido doesn't believe in love anymore. He's lonely and sad... he tried to feel some real love by using a prostitute, some porno-movies ... at the END OF THE STORY he's sitting alone in paradise, reading a sexy-manga. POOOOR POOOOOR little boy."

"End of Story" by *Pentance
"A Story Ends, A story remians unfinished with no crowd waiting for the climax, with no mothers waiting for a happy ending, with no lovers waiting for the sex scene. All that remains is a rusty spray can from a time when confomity exceeded normality and even the law itself."

"Somewhat of An Apology" by ~poeticaesthetic
"I wanted this to portray the feeling you would get if you just got home from work and found a goodbye letter from someone you have loved all your life. The kind of helplessness that just takes place and you accept it because they just don't love you anymore. End of story."

"Days Are Gone" by =lineacurva
These days are gone, quiet evenings being wrecked in her eyes, tears on the floor of an empty room, joy for that red kite against the sky, we’re so much older now, here we leave our shadows, delicate like wings of glass, be sure someone will envy us, for the time we managed to deserve, tomorrow would never had come, and now it’s today. so my friend rest now, close your case
just your hand. And sing with me

"The Light At The End" by ~pyrodarkangel
"A burst of sunlight illuminated the cave, blinding her deprived eyes. After what seemed like an infinity of stumbling through petrifying darkness, she had finally found the light. The light at the end of the tunnel. [End of Story]"

"The End of Chauvism" by =krapnek
"The end of story. The end of tyrannization over women. The end of chauvinism. The end of the stonger sex's unextinguishable power."

"Down By The River" by *chibi-bunny-usagi
"Winter is a very major event for me, because so many memories come out of that snowy season, Valdez gets more snow than any other coastal city or town in the world, so the signs of the snow melting means it is the end of winter. A change of seasons starts a new story in it's own, but the end of a season represents new life and old death."

"Lady Of Birds" By ~Blue-Pearl
" Dig my grave, dig it deep
Dig my grave, from head to feet
And on the top place a dove
And remember this, I died for love..."

"Winter Swings" by ~bonneh
"During the summer, children love to play at playgrounds. But during the winter, that doesn't usually happen. End of story."

"Don't Let Your Right Hand Know...." by ~KoAn72
" know what the left one does. Don't let your eyes see what's outside. Don't ask yourself questions when you don't want to hear the answers. Don't fight, don't breath. Let go. It's just your life. It's just another story without happy end. It's just what you made of it."

"This Sky is Freedom" by ~As-You-Wish
"She sighed, closed her eyes and breathed the scent of freedom, trying to take in the events of the past 24 hours. As she opened her eyes, blinking at the brightness, she glanced with blurry viosion towards the sky, she realised what had just been lost, as well as gained. The clouds were stained with the blood of all those that had sacraficed themselves for this moment, the very same people who her heart wept for as they would never see this free and open sky. The image of this sky would stay with her forever as it meant so much. It meant that it was over, it was finished, it was the End"

The whole "links to full-veiws will be ignored!!" is pretty pointless now since there is a "View Small Image" button now underneath the Deviation. It would be a shame to disqualify something for such a minor thing.
:iconthephotocritic:
It's just there so that we dont' get flooded will full views. Some people have slower computers/internet connections than others. The last contest that we had, we were on dial up. Thus the rule. It kind of just got left there even though we have cable. Either way, we'd rather have links to deviations instead of full views. Is that really such a hard thing to ask for when we are giving away up to 6 prizes? I think not.
